The Chinese Arbitration Conversations is a programme under the Young ICCA Mentoring Programme, led by Elizabeth Chan, a Group Advisor, together with Cao Lijun, a Mentor. The mentees in their group hailed from Hong Kong, Singapore, India and Turkey.
The Chinese Arbitration Conversations is a series of online/hybrid fireside chat-style conversations with leading Mandarin-speaking arbitrators, practitioners and experts. The event is conducted entirely in Mandarin. A list of all of the events, and a synopsis of each event, can be accessed here.
9th Cycle | Anindya Basarkod (Group Advisor)
Over the course of 2022, Katerina Strataridaki, Dr. Yue Zhao, Akash Srivastava, and Jalal Seyedabadi, mentored by Chan Leng Sun SC and Group Advisor , presented on and discussed absorbing and interesting topics, including Investment Protection in the European Union; Exploring recent trends in BIT and FTA Drafting; Pre-Arbitration ADR requirements in commercial and investment arbitration; Asymmetrical Arbitration Clauses; and Compliance with Anti-arbitration injunctions.
On 4 December 2023, Katerina Strataridaki, Dr. Yue Zhao and Jalal Seyedabadi along with Srishti Agarwal, will be participating in a mini moot. This mini-moot deals with an emergency arbitration under the SIAC Arbitration Rules 2016. Two mentees each will represent the Claimant and Respondent respectively. Mr. Chan will be acting as the emergency arbitrator.
